PVT CLARENCE M. HANSFORD WAS A FARMER BEFORE BEING DRAFTED INTO THE ARMY ON 10 SEPTEMBER 1943. HE SERVED OVERSEAS WITH "L" COMPANY, 180TH INFANTRY REGIMENT, 45TH INFANTRY DIVISION FROM 22 APRIL 1944 TO 24 DECEMBER 1944. ON 10 MARCH 1945 PVT HANSFORD WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED. HE RETURNED TO WEST VIRIGNIA WHERE HE LIVED UNTIL HIS DEATH ON 20 NOVEMBER 1996. CLARENCE IS BURIED IN THE PARSONS FAMILY CEMETERY, IN THE SHAVERS FORK AREA OF PARSONS, TUCKER COUNTY, WV.
