Details Behind Award
Leon J. Cushion, Private, Company D, 103rd Infantry. Posthumously awarded Army Distinguished Service Cross. For extraordinary heroism in action at Marcheville, France, September 26, 1918. Under terrific machine gun, artillery, and rifle fire, he displayed great courage in locatin and fighting enemy machine gunners. He was killed while rushing a machine gun nest.
