Organized and helped operate the AEF Counter - Espionage System under GEN Pershing from 1917 - 1919.

Retired 30 June 1926 with rank of LTC. 
War Department promoted him to COL on the Retired List in June 1930.

Was recalled to active duty as a COL from April 1941 - Dec 1943.
Retired, again, on 31 Dec 1943, as a COL.
