On May 27, 2004, the Medal of Honor presented to First Sergeant Roosevelt, which had been recovered by the FBI after someone tried to sell it on eBay, was presented to the Medal of Honor Society.  Source:

President Clinton conferred the Medal of Honor posthumously upon Colonel Theodore Roosevelt in a private ceremony in the Roosevelt Room of the White House on Tuesday, January 16, 2001.  Colonel Roosevelt is the great nephew of First Sergeant Roosevelt.  Source:

On September 28, 1944, Brigadier General Theodore Roosevelt, son of President Theodore Roosevelt, and great grand-nephew of First Sergeant Roosevelt, was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions on D-Day, June 6, 1944.  Unfortunately, Roosevelt died prior to it being presented to him because of later injuries received in battle.

Died April 14, 1907 at the age of 64, and was buried at Oak Hills Cemetary, Washington D.C.

He was the U.S. Consular Agent in Sydney, 1877-78; U.S. Consul in Auckland, New Zeland 1878-79; Saint Helena, 1879-80; Matanzas, 1880-81; Bordeaux, 1881-89; Brussels, 1889-1902; and finally the U.S. Consul General in Brussels, 1906.  He died while serving in this last position while in Brussels.

He was the son of Soloman Roosevelt and his wife Elizabeth Morris.  Born September 15, 1844 in New York, Sussex County, Delaware.  He married Mary Elizabeth Perry there on July 25, 1865 (she was born November 26, 1848 and died August 16, 1897). They had two children:  George Albert Roosevelt (August 22, 1870 - September 11, 1887) and Hannah Elizabeth Roosevelt (December 6, 1866 - July 17, 1869).

In all, 63 medals were awarded to soldiers for their actions on the battlefield of southern Pennsylvania. First Sergeant George Washington Roosevelt, Uncle of President Theodore Roosevelt and Grandfather of Brigadier General Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. was one of them.

Medal of Honor Citation: "Rank and organization: First Sergeant, Company K. 26th Pennsylvania Infantry. Place and date: At Bull Run, Va., 30 August 1862. At Gettysburg, Pa., 2 July 1863. Entered service at: Chester Pa. Birth: Chester, Pa. Date of issue: 2 July 1887. Citation: At Bull Run, Va., recaptured the colors, which had been seized by the enemy. At Gettysburg captured a Confederate color bearer and color, in which effort he was severely wounded."

First Sergeant George Roosevelt was one of five soldiers who earned the Medal of Honor for heroism in the Second Battle of Bull Run. On August 30, 1862, after the colors had been seized by the enemy, First Sergeant Roosevelt valiantly recovered the flag. During the Battle of Gettysburg he was one of 63 soldiers to earn the Medal of Honor when he captured a Confederate color bearer and his flag. While marching his prisoner to the rear, First Sergeant Roosevelt was hit in the leg by a bullet and collapsed to the ground. In that brief moment his prisoner escaped but First Sergeant Roosevelt managed to return to his unit where his wound was treated. His leg was subsequently amputated.
