Personal Memories
People You Remember We jumped into HWY 69, nicknamed Hell's HWY. I landed in a beautiful field. Our job was to keep the retreating Germans under pressure and keep the Highway open so the Brits could come through. They were a day late and we were told it was because they stopepd for Tea and Coffee. It made us all mad. I got hit in the belly with shrapnel from artillery and went to England to recover. That was my second Purple Heart Medal.
