PRIVATE FIRST CLASS ELMER FLOYD PROPST WAS EMPLOYED WITH THE WESTERN MARYLAND RAILROAD NEAR PARSONS WEST VIRGINIA BEFORE ENTERING THE SERVICE ON 23 NOVEMBER 1942. HE SERVED IN EUROPE WITH COMPANY "A" 713TH RAILWAY OPERATING BATTALION FROM 30 JULY 1944 TO 26 SEPTEMBER 1945. ON 11 OCTOBER 1945 PFC PROPST WAS HONORABLY DISCHARGED AT FORT MEADE MARYLAND. ELMER PROPST PASSED AWAY FROM HEART DISEASE ON 29 JUNE 1952 IN PARSONS WEST VIRGINNIA. HE WAS LAID TO REST AT THE MOORE CEMETERY IN TUCKER COUNTY WEST VIRGINIA.
