LTC Eades began his military career during WWI. He served as a Judge Advocate and Military Intelligence Officer. He transferred to the Army Reserves after the Great War, and after the attack on Pearl Harbor he applied for Active Duty again.
He was told that he was too old to come back on Active Duty, but his civilian occupation as an Attorney and former JAG officer helped out, as he had contacts in the War Department in Washington DC.
He was allowed to re-enter active service after some string pulling, as a MAJ, and at the time was probably one of the oldest MAJ's in the Army at that point. He was the Executive Officer for the intelligence division of 8th Service Commamd.
After WWII he again went into a USAR status until he retired. He had over 38 years of total federal service.
In civilian life, he was a very successful lawyer, both in private practice and for the Veterans Administration. He was active in the American Legion and the Dallas Bar Association. He was survived by his two sons, Eric Jr. and Richard, daughter Diana, and wife Fleda.
