Lt. Hunsicker was a 1964 graduate of Cocalico Senior High School, Denver Pennsylvania and of Carson-Newman College, Tennessee.
He entered the Army as an enlisted soldier 30 June 1969. He received his commission in May 1970 following his graduation from OCS Fort Benning. In June 1971, he graduated from the Army Aviation School at Fort Rucker, Alabama with Flight class: 71-14
On 24 April 1972, he was the aircraft commander of a UH-1H (tail number 69-15715) that was shot down by .51 cal 500 meters from Dak To. The aircraft was shot down during extraction of MACV Team from Tanh Canh.
He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star for his heroic actions on that date. He also received two Vietnamese awards: National Order of Vietnam Fifth Class and the Vietnames Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Individual Award.
He remains MIA.
A memorial grave(IMO) was established for him in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania.
