Memories For This Unit

Best Friends
I took Command of the 51st Engineer Detachment (Utilities)  The day after I was promoted to 1st Lt.   It was a great unit.  With 41 personnel with the capabilities to provide Power distribution, as well as facilities for a base camp of 2,500 theater of operations personnel.   The primary peace time mission was Facilities support of the Presidio.  With in a year of taking Command I recieved orders to deactivate the unit.  I wish I had done more research at the time, I have no idea of the linieage of the unit.
A young man who served with me in the unit was Willeam Burnside, one of my finest troopers for sure.

Best Moment

Taking Command for the first time.  Field Training Excercise's. How the unit performed after over 800 trees where blown down in a freak storm.  They worked tirelessly in difficult conditions to not only return traffic flow to the post but clear all the debri, which to over 8 weeks.  Am proud of everyone of them.

Worst Moment
Deactiviation orders.
