Served as the Commanding Officer, 3rd Battalion, 179th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division in Korea

Other Memories
Returning to Korea for a second combat tour in November 1952, MAJ Kennedy was assigned above his paygrade to serve as CO of the 3rd Battalion, 179th Infantry, 45th ID. The unit engaged in heavy combat while Kennedy was in command, including beating back several Communist offensives that were intended to better their position at the "peace talks". One of the major engagements was known as the Battle of Hill Eerie. MAJ Kennedy continued to command the 3/179th until shortly before active hostilities ended in July 1953.
