Born on October 19, 1891 in New York City.

Commissioned in the Cavalry from West Point in 1915. Duty with the Punitive Expedition into Mexico in 1916.  Served with the 12th Division in 1918. Graduated from Command and General Staff School in 1926. Assigned to West Point 1929-1933. Served with the National Guard Bureau 1937-1940. Executive Officer of 7th Cavalry, then Assistant Chief of Staff of 1st Cavalry Division, finally Commanding Officer of 12th Cavalry 1940-1943. Served in China 1944-1945.  Brigadier General in March 1945.

Assigned to the War Department Personnel Center at Fort Sam Houston 1945-1946. Reverted to Colonel in April 1946. Retired in 1950. Decorations included the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit and Commendation Ribbon.

Died on October 6, 1970.
