Enliksted Feb 1941 in Phillipine Scouts, 57th Infantry, at Ft William McKinley, Rizal, PI. Trained as clerk typist. Soon became infantryman.
Earned DSC serving as machine gunner on Bataan in 1942, killing numerous Japanese until gun stopped, killed more with his pistol until. it jammed, and took a rifle away from a charging Japanese and killed him and the last charging soldier with the bayonet. The Japanese force then retreated.
WIA at Balanga, Bataan, PI, 6 Jan 1942 head and left femur arm by bomb fragments.
Captured April 1942 at surrender of Bataan.
Endured Bataan Death March.
Endured 4 months as POW prior to release of Filipino Nationals Half of them had already died in the camps..
Became involved in spying against Japanese and in guerilla movement when Japanese began massacre of all old Phillipine Scouts when unraveling spy rings.
Fought as guerilla with MacArthurs units in 1944, then became part of reformed 57th Infantry, Phillipine Scouts and fought on, even mopping up holdouts in PI after the war was over.

Discharged honorably as a Private 5th Class Specialist Clerk Typist from Service Company, 57th Infantry Regiment, Phillipine Scouts, United States Army. This was a discharge to enlist in the Army of the United States, as stated on his DD214. Sworn in as US Citizen in 1946.
served with 3rd Military police Battalion, Manilla, 1946.
Promoted to 2 LT 1946-49. Reverted to NCO in 1949.
Landed at Inchon.
Fought way out of Chosin resorvoir.
Retired from US Army as MSG August 1968.
