UNEXPLODED Vietnamese rocket lands next to Officers Command Bunker and my barracks; My short timers party.
   

Worst Moment
Lost several men on perimeter guard duty to Vietcong night infiltrators.Being shot at in chopper rides over the jungles going to different landing zones and artillery bases for award ceremonies.Only one band member was issued a weapon per chopper, the rest had only their instruments.

Other Memories
Occasional volleyball tournaments with Marine unit stationed above our base. Trading ice cream to the Marines for steaks. Sunset on the South China Sea..Awesome.Helping Chaplain build a church building for our base out of recycled wood, tin and styrofoam cases for motar rounds. It was a beautiful church...outside one open end facing the South China Sea was a large wooden cross..it was a breathtaking view...
