 Additional Information
Last Known Activity:

In 1891, while stationed in South Dakota, then - LT Hale captured Sitting Bull and 150 Sioux Indians and brought them back to Fort Bennett, single - handed.  For this action, he was recommended for the Medal of Honor.

But, the MOH was denied because LT Hale captured Sitting Bull without firing a single shot.
The MOH Rules stated that the MOH could only be awarded for actions taken in actual combat.

MG Hale served for over 42 years of commissioned service.
