Last Known Activity:

BG Abernathy was awarded three (3) Silver Stars for gallantry and two (2) Purple Hearts for wounds during his Spanish-American War and Philippine Campaign service, 1898 - 1899.

He was commissioned a FA 2LT in June 1897, upon graduation from the USMA.

He retired in August 1938 with over 41 years of commissioned service.
