Military Awards, if any, are unknown. However, Clint has received The French Republics Comman deur of the Ordre des Artsel des Lettras. Also, the Legion d'honeur medal (Legion of Honor) and the Venice Film Festival Golden Lion Award. He also has received 5 Academy Awards; 5 Golden Globe Awards; 1 Screen Actors Guild Award and 5 Peoples Choice Awards.
Clint graduated from Oakland Technical High School in 1948. This was after attending Piedmont Junior and Senior High School. Shortly after this he went to Seattle University and apparently was majoring in Music. Clint learned to play piano and became a rather accomlished pianist. Played ragtime in local bars and such. He held down a number of jobs before his being drafted into the Army in 1951. These included: Haybailer, logger, truck driver, steel furnace stoker, life gaurd, paper carrier, grocery clerk, forester, forest fighter snd finally, life gaurd in the Army at Fort Ord, California. After the Army he attended the Los Angeles City College and majored in Drama/Acting and we all know the end result.
The nation was involved in the Korean War during his service but Clint lucked out in landing the job as life gaurd and swimming instructor while at Fort Ord. His entire military career was at this base.
In October 1951 while Clint was on leave, he was a passenger on a Douglas Torpedo Bomber heading back to his base. The bomber experienced some major problems and had to ditch at sea just north of San Francisco about a mile or so off Point Reyes. Clint survived the crash and had to swim about three miles to safety! A map in included among the pictures we have posted here on his profile page.
Clint was born rather large. 11 lbs, 6 oz! The nurses named him Samson! His father was Clinton Eastwood Sr. and his mother was Ruth Eastwood (Margaret Ruth Runner). He has a younger sister, Jean.
Here is just one of Clints famous quotes: "They say marriages are made in heaven. But so is thunder and lightning!"
