COL Dusenbury was one of the first soldiers to be awarded the Soldier's Medal in May 1928.
As a 1LT assigned to the 11th Infantry Regiment in Indiana, he saved a civilian from drowning.
As a Japanese Linguist assigned to the Far East Desk of the War Department Military Intelligence Section, he translated Top Secret ULTRA Communications sent between Japanese military units prior to and during World War 2.
