Best Friends James Mash and Jim Roland grew up, enlisted, went to Basic, AIT, NCO School and OJT'd together. They were separated when they went to Vietnam, Mash going to the 3/4 Cav, 25th, Inf, Div and Roland ( the self proclaimed Georgia Peach) to B Co 2/34th Armor at that time part of the 1st Inf Div. They were, it seemed, always to together, you didn't see one without the other. A fellow classmate who OJT'd with them at Fort Knox has told me some wild stories of their escapades, they were a handful when together.
