114th Assault Helicopter Company
On 7 May 1963 the 114th Air Mobile Company, the 96th Signal Detachment, and the 544th Transportation Detachment were assigned to the US Army Support Group, Vietnam, and officially arrived at Vinh Long, Republic of South Vietnam on 10 May 1963. In July 1963, the 114th Air Mobile Company at Vinh Long joined with the 93rd Transportation Company (Light Helicopter) at Sac Trang and became part of the newly constituted Delta Aviation Battalion (provisional) headquartered at Can Tho, Republic of South Vietnam. From May 21 through July 14, 1963 the 114th Air Mobile Company was assigned to the 45th Transportation Battalion (G.O. 109 dated 21 May 1963). On July 15, 1963 the 114th Air Mobile Company was reassigned to the Delta Aviation Battalion (Provisional). On 4 June 1964, UP GO 17 HQ USARPAC, the 114th Air Mobile Company was re-designated the 114th Aviation Company (Air Mobile Light). On 30 September 1964, the 114th Aviation Company (Air Mobile Light) was assigned to the 13th Aviation Battalion (Combat), the successor of the Delta Aviation Battalion (provisional). On 2 July 1966, UP GO 41 HQ USARV, the 114th Aviation Company (Air Mobile Light) came under the control of the 1st Aviation Brigade, USARV, and was re-designated the 114th Assault Helicopter Company. In October 1969 the 114th Assault Helicopter Company was released from assignment to the 13th Aviation Battalion (Combat) and reassigned to the 214th Aviation Battalion (Combat). On November 10, 1971 the 114th Assault Helicopter Company was reassigned to the 13th Combat Aviation Battalion. On the 29th of February 1972, the 114th Assault Helicopter Company ended its' nine year tour of duty at Vinh Long in the Republic of South Vietnam. During this nine years, the 114th Assault Helicopter Company participated in 16 Campaigns: Vietnam Advisory - Vietnam Counter Offensive Vietnam Defense - TET 69' Counter Offensive Vietnam Counter Offensive - Vietnam Summer-Fall 69' Offensive Vietnam Counter Offensive, Phase II - Vietnam Winter-Spring 70' Offensive Vietnam Counter Offensive, Phase III - Sanctuary Counter Offensive TET Counter Offensive - Vietnam Counter Offensive, Phase VII Vietnam Counter Offensive, Phase IV - Consolidation I Vietnam Counter Offensive, Phase V - Consolidation II For its' performance during that nine year period, the 114th Assault Helicopter Company has been presented with the following unit awards: Presidential Unit Citation, for action 27 August 1965 - 28 August 1965 Valorous Unit Award, for action 26 June 1964 Valorous Unit Award, for action 4 April 1965 - 6 April 1965 Meritorious Unit Citation, for action 1 July 1963 - 30 June 1964 Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with Palm, for action 5 May 1963 - 30 June 1964 Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with Palm, for action 1 March 1964 - 26 March 1967 Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with Palm, for action 27 March 1967 - 18 May 1968 Vietnamese Gallantry Cross with Palm, for action 15 December 1969 - 10 October 1970
