LTC Edwin Price Ramsey passed away yesterday, March 7, 2013.

There will be a Funeral Mass and Memorial Service on Thursday, March 14. Viewing at 10:15, and Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at

St. Paul the Apostle Church

His burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery but there is no scheduled date yet.

Ed Ramsey is known for leading the last horse cavalry charge in US Army history, in Morong, Bataan against the Japanese in January, 1942. He evaded capture by the Japanese and went on to become a highly successful guerrilla leader till the end of the war. He has written a very inspiring book titled "Lt. Ramsey's War"

 While commanding a 27 - man platoon from the 26th Cavalry Regiment (Philippine Scouts) on Bataan, Philippines on Jan 1, 1942; then - 1LT Ramsey led the last US Army Horse Cavalry charge against an armed enemy (the Japanese Army).  For this action, he was awarded the Silver Star by GEN Wainwright. 

After the fall of Bataan, Then - 1LT Ramsey organized and led guerriila forces against Japanese forces on Central Luzon for over 3 & 1/2 years. He also provided GEN MacArthur timely intelligence critical to the successful Philippine Liberation. For these actions, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. 

He was promoted to LTC upon his rescue by US Forces in late 1945.
