The Percy Jones Army Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan, formerly the Battle Creek Sanitarium, was purchased by the United States Army in 1942 and converted into a 1,500-bed military hospital for treating soldiers wounded in World War II.
The Army continued to operate the hospital through the Korean War until the buildings were placed under the control of the General Services Administration in 1954.
Other Memories Dole had to wait nine hours on the battlefield before being taken to the 15th Evacuation Hospital, where he began a recovery that would take until 1948 at Percy Jones Army Hospital in Battle Creek, Michigan (where Dole met future fellow politicians Daniel Inouye and Philip Hart).
