11th Special Forces Group Details
The 11th Special Forces Group was a U.S. Army Reserve Group located along the east coast of the United States. It was activated as part of the Army Reserves in Boston, Massachusetts on March 1, 1961. The 11th SFGA, along with the 12th SFGA, was deactivated in 1994 as a cost cutting measure. Many of the Soldiers of both reserve groups would join either the 19th or 20th Special Forces Groups of the U.S. Army's National Guard.
Basing. The first location for the Group HQs was Boston, Massachusetts (March 1961). It later relocated to Staten Island, New York (March 22, 1963), then to Tappan, New York (August 1, 1970), and finally to Fort Meade, Maryland (March 31, 1973).
