I am retired from the Florida Department of Corrections effective 05/11/2016 as the Office Manager of a Probation & Parole Office in NE Florida. There is Life After FDC, and it is GREAT!
To date (11 May 16), I've worked Florida criminal justice within the Flagler County Jail (Flagler County Sheriff's Office), Florida State Prison (Florida Department of Corrections) and Palatka Probation & Parole (Florida Department of Corrections) for over 29 years. I held my Florida Correctional Officer/ Correctional Probation Officer Certifications for 30 years, 28 days. I have been locked in with, or have supervised, everything from winos to serial killers.

In Feb 1977, I was accepted into the USMC PLC Program and attached to M Co (-), 3/24 Marines, 4th MAR DIV. I was extensively OJTed (0300, Infantry) until attending the First Phase of OCS, Camp Upshur, MCB Quantico, VA, and OJTed again upon return (0100; Personnel, Administration & Retention; the Company lost their only 0100 and I was a Business Major). While an Officer Candidate and full-time Southwest Missouri State University student, I had NCO status (E-5, Sgt) within the unit, was paid as a Sgt, had rank reflected as Sgt on my USMCR ID Card, etc. This was my humble beginning in Military Personnel Administration and I was lucky enough to have been taught by some of the best.
