Last Known Activity:
Bill Henschel was a consumate commander of troops. Four tours in Viet Nam he culminated his career at TRADOC, Ft. Monroe, VA. Before that he had been the G1, Americal Div, XO, 11th Infantry Brigade and where I first met him as CO 3rd Bn, 1st BCT Bde, Ft Gordon, GA. He mentored his officers with calm and seasoned guidance. He had an excellent sense of humor and while taking the job seriously, never took himself so seriously that it was noticed by anyone who associated with him. Leaving active service he spent time in Saudi Arabia with the SANG program.
Other Comments:
Bill was a personal mentor. Bill Henschel was also a member of the VFW and American Legion.
