The 3rd Military Police Group (CID), headquartered at Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia supports commanders by conducting criminal investigations of serious, sensitive or special interest matters; preventing crime; protecting the force and Army resources in peacetime, combat and contingency operations throughout the group's area of operations.
The 3rd MP Group (CID) is responsible for all felony criminal investigation matters with a U.S. Army interest throughout an area of operation encompassing the eastern half of the United States, the Caribbean, Central America (less Mexico), South America, Africa, and Europe.
Among key supported Army field elements within the 3rd MP Group's CID) area of responsibility are U.S Army Europe, U.S. Army Africa, XVIII Airborne Corps and 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; the 101st Air Assault Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; the 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia and the 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York.
The 3rd MP Group (CID) provides direct mission support to U.S. Central Command, U.S. Special Operations Command and U.S. Southern Command located in Florida. The Group also supports U.S European Command and U.S. Africa Command located in Stuttgart, Germany.
The 3rd Group is comprised of five battalions located at Fort Benning, Fort Campbell, Fort Myer, and Kleber Kaserne, Germany as well as the only airborne CID battalion at Fort Bragg.
