ONLY 8 MORE WEEKS TO GO
1st PLATOON, 53rd COMPANY
A group photo of 1st Platoon was taken for the yearbook after we had turned "blue." That is, we were wearing blue helmet liners instead of the black helmet liners, meaning we had reached our 18th week of the 26-week course.
It was highly significant because it meant we no longer had to run wherever we went and were addressed with 'sir' and saluted by OCS candidates still in their first 18 weeks. It was a good feeling and almost guaranteed we would graduate.
That's me back row, 4th from the right with the dressing on my upper lip. But that is a story for another time!
