This photograph was taken during summer of 1941, shows Captain Theodore Charles Spinning, firing the then new M1 (Garand) Service Rifle, at Pine Camp (now Fort Drum), near Black River, New York, while serving as B Company Commander, 84th Rec. Bn., 4th Arm. Div.
