In January, 2017 myself and 49 Combat Veterans from the Vietnam War and the Iraq/Afghanistan wars went to Washington D.C. to speak to Congress men and women, and U.S. Senators about a new bill written by Senators John McCain and Lindsey Graham, called the JASTA Bill Amendment. JASTA, Justice Against Sponsors Of Terrorism Acts, was passed in May 2017, which prevented the U.S. and it??s Service Members, from being sued by foreign entities the U.S. was involved in while at war in their country. It also passed legislation to allow victims and victims relatives to sue Saudi Arabia for it??s role in funding the 9/11 terrorist atracks.
Had this amendment not passed, U.S. Veterans of foreign wars, such as the Vietnam War and the Middle East wars, could be sued by those countries for being in their country.
I was proud to be able to serve my country again by going to D.C. and talking with the Congressional men and women, and the Senators men and women, and explaining the Veterans side of the issue by being involved in the wars in those countries.
