This photograph of SFC James (Jimmie) G. Cather, 2LT Stephen M. Kohler and, SFC Jack B. Latham was taken around the March/April timeframe in 1984 just before a series of reflagging activities. Jack was reassigned to Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, Mainz-Gonsenheim from the 3rd Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, Wiesbaden scheduled for inactivation in July 1984. Jack became my platoon sergeant. Jimmie (who was my platoon sergeant) and, I were in Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment and reassigned to Echo Company when a cohort company arrived from Fort Carson, Colorado. Shortly after the 2/28th INF reflagged to the 3/8th INF. Jimmie was further assigned to the Battalion S-3.
