James Mash and Jim Roland grew up, enlisted, went to Basic, AIT, NCO School and OJT'd together. They were separated when they went to Vietnam, Mash going to the 3/4 Cav, 25th, Inf, Div and Roland ( the self proclaimed Georgia Peach) to B Co 2/34th Armor at that time part of the 1st Inf Div. They were, it seemed, always to together, you didn't see one without the other. A fellow classmate who OJT'd with them at Fort Knox has told me some wild stories of their escapades, they were a handful when together.
