The day I left for home, April 7th 1969 and landed in Dothan, Alabama on April 9th 1969.
The day Recon was ambushed off Bronco and was within my sight and I directed 81 fire on the VC as I could see thier position. It was really good to be able to give them support and break the attack.

May 25th 1969 when our night laager came under attack. Also the ambush that we walked into with the dog team. Rice Bowl off fire base Debbie.

In addition, all members of the National Guard and Reserve who were part of the Selected Reserve in good standing between August 2, 1990, to November 30, 1995, are eligible for the National Defense Service Medal. Donald Pollock, Garry Howard, Earnest Sheffield, Henry Rapay. We trained at Sand Hill during the heat of summer. I remember those great drill sargeants we had.

I just don't remember any great moment except leaving there. But I did get to return to Benning for NCO School after AIT at Ft. Mc Clellan.

The day I got my orders to Nam with a 1 week old baby at home.
