This medal is awarded to members of the Armed Forces of the United States who have been assigned, attached, or mobilized to units operating in the area of eligibility for thirty consecutive or for sixty non-consecutive days, or who meet the following criteria: Be engaged in combat during an armed engagement, regardless of the time in the area of elibility; Is wounded or injured in the line of duty and requires medical evacuation from the area of eligibility; While participating as a regularly assigned aircrew member flying sorties into, out of, or within the area of eligibility in direct support of military operations. 05 May 1966 On my way to Fort. Ord,CA. To start 8 weeks Basic Training (BCT) , With no Leave time off , just 8 Hard weeks of work. Co. D 3rd.Bn, 3rd.Bde. On the Hill.
Interviewed with then Maj. Robert Hipwell Unit AGR, for position as the Sr. Maintenanec Sgt. E-8 Msg. slot. MOS:63 as the(BMS)Battalion Maintenance Sergeant.
Training twice in KOREA, as a reservest. once in the Summer for 2 weeks and the second time in the winter for 2 weeks.
This gave us an all around experiance, Trng with the 7th MP Bde on a FTX.
When over in KOREA on a FTX Buying beef jerkey and chewing it and finding out it was dried fish instead.
