Description
(Sep 28 – Nov 13) 1st Brigade (Separate), 101st Airborne Division and and 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines kicks off Operation SAYONARA in Qui Nhon Province, Republic of Vietnam. The operation successfully provides area and route security operations in support of the deployment of the Republic of Korea's Capital Division (Mechanized).

The mission to conduct operations southwest of Qui Nhon to permit unopposed deployment of R.O.K. capital Division, continue to secure Dong Ba Thin and Cam Ranh Bay area, and to protect deployment of R.O.K. marines brigade in Cam Ranh Bay area.
