In August of 1967 he received orders to go for a physical...he knew then that he would be drafted.  He signed up for 3 years to get a 120 day leave up front. He left for Ft Benning GA in January 1968. After basic training, he was stationed in Ft Leonardwood MO for Advanced Individual Training. He got a 15 day leave after AIT and went to Vietnam in May 1968. He came home early June 1969 then returned to Vietnam in late June 1969.

He got a leave and came home for Christmas in 1969 and returned to Vietnam in January 1970. He was shot on February 14, 1970 and was sent home to Martin Army hospital in Ft Benning GA in March 1970.  He was released from the Army in November 1970 and died December 12, 1972.
