Last Known Activity:

31, of Virginia Beach, Va.; assigned to 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; killed Nov. 27 when the contract aircraft in which he was riding crashed in Bamian, Afghanistan. Also killed in the crash were Lt. Col. Michael J. McMahon and Spc. Harley D.R. Miller.
 

Chief Warrant Officer Grogan of Virginia Beach, Virginia was a graduate of Moore High School and attended the First Baptist Church of Moore. His love of swimming led to a position in the Navy as a search-and-rescue swimmer. Later, he became interested in flying and transferred to the Army to become a pilot. He leaves behind a wife, Tracy, and two children, ages 6, and 2, and his grandmother, Wilma North. He was the son of Barbara and Lewis Grogan. Travis comes from a long line of military men. His great-great-great grandfather lost an eye during the Civil War. He was 31.
 
Navy Service
CW2 Grogan joined the Navy in 1991.  He served as a helicopter rescue crewman in HS 75 "Emerald Knights" at NAS Jacksonville from 1994 to 1997 with the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class. From 1997 to 2000 he served in HCS 4 "Red Wolves" as a helicopter utility crewman at NAS Norfolk as a Petty Officer 2nd Class.  In 2000 he transferred to the Army to become a helicopter pilot.
