Personal Memories

Best Friends
Robert D. Graham Jr. From Fort Smith, Arkansas.  We also went on a double date after being assigned to Germany.

I met Robert D. Graham Jr. in my scond basic training company and went on picnis with him and his family at Camp Chaffee.  Also had dinner with him and his family at their home in nearby Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Worst Moment
Was the day I had a migraine headache all day and at about 21:00 hours I passed out and fell off my footlocker.  I came to about 5 hours later in my bunk with the Commanding Officer and First Sergeant hovering over me.  I was taken by ambulance to the hospital where I spent a week before being released.

The next bad day was having 3 wisdom teeth extracted all at once and then having to walk five miles to join the rest of the Company for training.  All day I kept spitting up blood and having to break ranks to spit it out.

Other Memories
I was first assigned to Company A, 27th Medium Tank Battalion and after having to spend a week in the hospital I was transferred to Company B, 46th Armored Infantry Battalion to complete my training.  On Memorial Day, 1955 the military at Camp Chaffee held a parade in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  I was just one of the many hundreds that was in the parade.
