Remembering An American Hero
Posted on 5/20/15 - by Curt Carter ccarter02@earthlink.net
Dear SP4 Dale Gene Smith, sir
As an American, I would like to thank you for your service and for your sacrifice made on behalf of our wonderful country. The youth of today could gain much by learning of heroes such as yourself, men and women whose courage and heart can never be questioned.
May God allow you to read this, and may He allow me to someday shake your hand when I get to Heaven to personally thank you. May he also allow my father to find you and shake your hand now to say thank you; for America, and for those who love you.
With respect, Sir
Curt Carter

Still remember that day, going to the 25th to pick you up and getting the news. We were finally going to get to meet up in Chu Chi on that day!

Peace and condolence, to the family and friends. "He which hath no stomach to this fight let him depart. But we in it shall be remembered. We few, we happy few, we band of brothers!! May your spirit always live on in the hearts of those you loved and those who grew to love you for your ultimate sacrifice, courage and dedication.

I knew Dale in High school. We were classmates and friends. Our lockers were side by side. He was the quiet type and I could never see him fighting in the war. But Dale was a patriot not one to dodge the draft. When his number was called he went to serve his country. Dale and I were in Nam at the same time but we didn't know it. He had a great looking sister named Bev. She married one of my other friends, Bud. I will forever count Dale as a personal friend and a defender of our beloved country who paid with his life that we might enjoy freedom today.

Never Forgotten
Rest in peace with the warriors. (Photo Credit: Dale Summers
Dale and I were friends in High School. Our lockers were side by side. Dale was a quiet kind of guy; not one you would find associated with war. But he was patriotic. We miss you
