A Note from The Virtual Wall
On 27 September 1966 C Company, 1/5 Infantry, conducted local search and destroy operations in the vicinity of the Filhol Rubber Plantation. At 2047 hours a listening post was fired on with an M-79 by a C Company soldier within the night defensive perimeter. One soldier was killed and two were wounded in the incident.

An Army Staff Sergeant from Burlington City, N.J., was the father of two small children
Staff Sgt. Thomas Lowden, 28, the husband of Mrs. Walburga Lowden, of St. Mary's st., died in a Vietnam hospital Tuesday, hours after he was wounded in action.
Sgt. Lowden, a 1957 graduate of Burlington Senior High School, enlisted in the Army in June, 1957.
He went to Vietnam in January after having served in Hawaii since June, 1965.
He was with the Army's 25th Division when he died.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Thomas, 6; a daughter, Yasmine, 5; his mother, Mrs. Helen E. Lowden, also of St. Mary's st., Burlington City, and a brother, Army Pfc. Francis Lowden

recently got an assignment in my US History class. Our teacher gave us a challenge and our goal is to post remembrances to all those who lost their lives in vietnam. There are many people who don't have any remembrances on here and our goal is for them to be remembered and to show our gratitude to all they went through. My goal is to post 100 remembrances because those who gave that sacrifice for our country should never be forgotten. Thomas, thank you for all you did, you will always be remembered!
