The cloud of smoke on the hillside is caused by napalm being dropped on NVA troops from the PAVN's 21st Regiment by "fast movers"--jet fighter-bombers from the Marine Air Wing at Chu Lai. Napalm was the weapon of choice in thickly jungle-covered areas such as this target. . . .
