Per General Orders 1986-27, Paragraph IV.1, dated 30 Jun 1986 which amended General Order 1986-24, dated 30 May 1986 to read:

For purposes of the US Army Regimental System, the Army Medical Department is established as the Army Medical Department Regiment. The Army Medical Department Regiment is placed under the US Army Regimental System effective 27 July 1986. The home of the Army Medical Department Regiment is ESTABLISHED at Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
