Sergeant First Class Robert Clarence Bucheit was a member of Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in North Korea on November 2, 1950 and died while a prisoner on December 31, 1950.

This soldier was assigned to the U.S. 8th Cavalry Regiment and attached units (1st Cavalry Division), when his unit came under attack by Chinese forces near Unsan, North Korea on the night of Nov. 1-2, 1950. During the battle, He and nearly 400 others from the 8th Cavalry Regiment were declared missing or killed in action. 
Sergeant First Class Robert Clarence Bucheit was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Prisoner of War Medal, the Purple Heart, the WW 2 Victory Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
