Last Known Activity
Sergeant Agostino Di Rienzo was a member of Company L, 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the enemy near Unsan, North Korea on November 2, 1950.

A World War II veteran, Di Rienzo re-enlisted during the Korean War and was assigned to the Army’s 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, positioned along the Nammyon River, when the regiment was attacked and cut off by Chinese Communist forces on Nov. 1, 1950, less than a year after he was deployed to North Korea.

For his leadership and valor, Sergeant Agostino Di Rienzo was awarded the Bronze Star the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
