Last Known Activity
Captain William Avery died while being held as a Prisoner of War of the Japanese at Camp O'Donnel, Luzon, Philippines. 

He was assigned to an Infantry Unit in the Philippine Divison. He was 62. He had been residing with his wife at the Presidio of San Francisco in 1940, and he held the rank of Warrant Officer..

Note:  Duties and such in the Philippines are not known.
