Last Known Activity

While at the University of Maine, Lt. Zimmerman particiipating in the ROTC program, and receieved his commision following graduation.

In Vietnam, 1st Lt. Zimmerman was the pilot of UH-1D (tail number 65-12881). He and his crew were on a Medevac mission from 283rd Medical Detachment, 498th Medical Company (Air Ambulance.) The helicopter was shot down killing all on board.  Lt. Zimmerman had only just arrived in country on 27 January 1967.
