Last Known Activity
SP5 Fred Thacker was the crew chief of UH-1C (tail number 65-09493) from the 335th Assault Helicopter Company, 214th Aviation Battalion, 164th Aviation Group, 1st Aviation Brigade.

During operations on 19 September 1971, his helicopter received heavy fire, shot down on a night mission south of 33 CP in the U Minh Forest, Mekong Delta area. The pilot, CW2 Robinson was rescued.
