Last Known Activity
Lt. Schnake atteded the OCS Field Artillery Officer Candiate School at Fort Sill, with Class 33B-67.

In Vietnam he served with B Battery, 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, beginning his tour on 7 June 1968.

He was interred in Lakeview Cemetery, South Haven, Michigan.

This is a photo of LT Schnake taken while he was with the battery, B 1/5th Arty, 1st Inf Div. He is standing outside the FDC tent looking in. Since Arty officers typically went out as FOs for 6 months, he was with us less than 6 months when he was killed. God bless you, sir.

  Field Artillery OCS Class 33B-67 Fort Sill Oklahoma
  1LT Schnake was serving as the Executive Officer of Battery B, 1st Battalion, 5th Artillery, 1st Infantry Division when he was killed in action. He had less than two weeks left of his tour of duty at the time of his death.
