Last Known Activity

On January 7, 1971, a U.S. Army helicopter UH-1H (tail number 69-15557) from 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, was participating in a combat operation in Long Khanh Province (III Corps), RVN, when it was hit by rocket-propelled grenade near Xuan Loc while hovering over a landing zone. The co-pilot, 1LT Kenneth R. Rushing, was fatally injured in the attack. 1LT Rushing was the liaison officer to Xuan Loc from Bien Hoa and was on the aircraft to earn some flight time.
