Last Known Activity
On March 6, 1967 in military operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam SFC William Claude Poole of Memphis, TN was serving as a platoon leader for Company B, 1st Battalion, 35th Infantry, which was conducting a search and destroy operation near the village of Hoa Tan.  Intense enemy fires killed him as he himself led a platoon of young Soldiers.

MSG Poole was buried at Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Headland, Alabama.  Find A Grave Memorial:
