On 3 September 1972, he was a pilot of an AH-1G (tail number 67-15801)," Gunrunner 36" on a medevac escort mission, assisting the 247th Medical Detachment. He entered a cloud bank alongside another "Cobra, and crashed after going IMC, at Dalat, RVN.
