YMCA, Little League, Pony League, thirteen years of school. Your dad gave me my first baseball glove. You were always good. I was always getting us into trouble. Why you instead of me?

We were so young, with so much to do in our lives
Posted for: TERRANCE WILLIAM NELSON:
We met each other on our first day in the Army. We flew from Oakland overnight to Fort Polk, where we completed basic training together. We both had do endure the taunts of being from California from our drill sergeants. Since the army kept us in alphabetical order, we didn't get to hang out much when we later went to flight school at Fort Wolters, and Rucker. We had a great time learning to fly helicopters together, and acting like the kids we were. As serious as we both were about our training, neither of us ever thought that we wouldn't be coming home. Now over 40 years later, I am writing to you on this virtual wall. As a father, I understand how your parents must have felt when they heard the news of your death. Just know that there are many of us who still think of you.
